Yaminah McKessey began her career in visual arts as a photographer during her undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania. She shifted her focus to writing and directing because she wanted to play a larger role in addressing the dearth of meaningful stories about working-class Americans.
McKessey has worked in various capacities in film production. Her credits include numerous music videos, commercials, and several television shows. She has also worked as a production assistant on She Hate Me (Spike Lee) and as a camera assistant on The War Within (Joseph Castelo). Who’s Calling is the first short film that McKessey has written, directed, and produced. |
